The 2025 Silverado 1500 is expected to maintain its current lineup of engines, offering a diverse range of options to suit different needs and preferences.

For most trims, the standard engine is a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder, packing a punch with 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. This engine is no slouch when it comes to towing either, with a capacity of up to 9,500 pounds.

If you need even more towing power, Chevy offers the 5.3-liter V8, cranking out 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. With this engine, the Silverado’s towing capacity increases to an impressive 11,500 pounds.

For those prioritizing efficiency, there’s the option of a 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbodiesel engine, delivering 305 hp and a whopping 495 lb-ft of torque. And for those who crave top-notch performance, there’s the mighty 6.2-liter V8, boasting 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. With either the turbodiesel or the 6.2-liter V8, the Silverado can haul up to 13,300 pounds.

Additionally, four-wheel drive comes standard on the Trailboss and ZR2 trims, and it’s available as an option on all other trims, ensuring versatility and capability across the lineup.

Release Date

The Silverado 1500 is expected to be released and made available for purchase at dealerships during the summer months. Specifically, we anticipate that the 2025 model will be ready for purchase starting in late August of the year 2024.

Our Thoughts

After getting a major update in 2024, the Chevrolet Silverado HD is coming back for 2025 with a new Trail Boss model.

The Trail Boss trim is for folks who sometimes like to go off-road. It was first seen on the 2019 Silverado 1500 and later added to the Colorado lineup in 2022. Now, it’s coming to the Silverado HD series too.

For those who want even more off-road capability, Chevy still offers the ZR2 grade, which has been available on the Silverado HD since 2024.

The Trail Boss comes with extra features like the Z71 suspension package with Rancho shocks, 20-inch wheels with BFGoodrich tires, and cool styling details like red recovery hooks.

Under the hood, the Trail Boss has a 6.6-liter V-8 engine with 401 horsepower as standard. But you can also choose the optional 6.6-liter turbodiesel V-8 with 470 horsepower. Both engines come with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Chevy is also making some small changes to other Silverado HD models for 2025. For example, parking sensors will be available on some trims, and adaptive cruise control is now standard on the High Country trim.

The 2025 Silverado HD lineup will be available starting this summer, with pricing details coming closer to the launch date.
