The 2025 Honda Civic SI is an increasingly rare type of performance car, not because it achieves new heights for affordable enthusiast vehicles, but because it thrives in the real world. With 200 horsepower, an engaging six-speed manual transmission, and a suspension crafted for back-road shenanigans, it’s enough to make a lot of people, including myself, happy.

Power & Engine Performance
Underneath, we’re going to have a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 engine. While 200 ponies don’t sound like a whole lot, it isn’t a whole lot, but it’s enough, especially when you pair it with a six-speed manual transmission with some aggressive gear ratios.
It also comes with a limited-slip differential that can actually put the power to the ground through corners and off the line.
Compared to its competitors, the Civic SI does provide an advantage when it comes to reliability. A lot of the mechanical bits are similar to what they were in the previous generation, though they have been tweaked for the 10th gen.
The most concerning issue was oil dilution, where gasoline would mix with the engine lubricant, and it could definitely cause some damage.
There were service bulletins that addressed this problem, and dilution seems to have been reduced significantly for 2024. I wouldn’t worry about it so long as you’re on top of your oil changes.

We plan to retest the 2025 non-hybrid Civic model once it becomes available, especially with its updated powertrain. These forthcoming tests will provide a more accurate comparison and help us understand the advancements made in the new model. We will update this section with the latest results as soon as the testing is completed.
