Here’s Why Bronco Sport SUVs and Maverick Compact Pickup Trucks Were Recalled

  • Ford is recalling 456,565 SUVs and pickup trucks in the US.
  • They’re doing this because of two problems: fuel leaks and low batteries.
  • The fuel leak happens because of a broken fuel injector, which could start a fire.

Ford has initiated a recall of Bronco Sport SUVs and Maverick compact pickup trucks due to safety concerns identified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The recall affects vehicles manufactured between 2022 and 2024 for Bronco Sport SUVs and between 2022 and 2023 for Maverick compact pickup trucks.

The primary reason for the recall is the potential development of a fuel leak in these vehicles, attributed to a cracked fuel injector.

This defect poses a significant risk as it can lead to the accumulation of liquid fuel or fuel vapor near ignition sources, greatly increasing the likelihood of a fire.

Additionally, an issue related to low battery charge has been identified. If not detected, this low battery charge could result in malfunctioning electrical accessories, such as hazard lights, and in some cases, a loss of drive power in the affected vehicles.

To address these safety concerns, Ford dealerships will be conducting recalibrations of the body control and powertrain control modules free of charge for affected vehicle owners.

This corrective action aims to rectify the identified issues and ensure the safety and functionality of the vehicles on the road.
