2025 Volkswagen Tiguan: Specs, Interior, Price & Release Date

The new 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan will be available in six variants: S, SE, SE line, Black SEL line, SC, FV, and SEL line FV.

The 202 Volkswagen Tiguan is the third generation of Volkswagen’s compact SUV. We’ll conduct a comprehensive comparison with the current generation Tiguan, evaluating the front, side, rear, and interior. I’ll share my insights on whether this design represents an improvement or not.

Despite variations between regions, it’s crucial to understand that the US version won’t undergo a complete redesign; rather, adjustments will primarily involve stretching the wheelbase.

Exterior Design:

The European version of the 2025 Tiguan, showcased in above image, flaunts a revamped exterior design. Notably, the shorter wheelbase version provides a glimpse into Volkswagen’s aesthetic direction.

However, it’s essential to note that the US market will receive a longer wheelbase variant, maintaining consistency with the current Tiguan all space model.

The design language introduces intriguing elements, such as shoulder lines, exuding a sense of dynamism.

Furthermore, the inclusion of a plug-in hybrid powertrain marks a significant advancement, promising enhanced efficiency and reduced emissions. With a claimed pure electric range of 62 miles, the Tiguan aims to cater to the demands of eco-conscious consumers.

The turbocharged engine options, including gasoline and turbo diesel variants, offer versatility and performance.

Interior Features:

Stepping inside the 2025 Tiguan reveals a plethora of new features aimed at elevating the driving experience. From massaging seats to a massive 15-inch flat-screen display on the dashboard, Volkswagen leaves no stone unturned in enhancing comfort and convenience.

The addition of a heads-up display and adaptive dampers further underscores the brand’s commitment to innovation.

One notable departure from conventional designs is the column-mounted gear shifter, eschewing the traditional center console setup.

Instead, a rotary controller takes center stage, complemented by an additional screen for intuitive interaction. While these features add a touch of modernity, their implementation raises questions about practicality and user experience.

Analysis:

Despite the technological advancements and feature upgrades, the design of the 2025 Tiguan fails to impress. The aesthetic changes, particularly in the front fascia, raise eyebrows rather than admiration. The excessive use of ID design elements and the unconventional bumper layout detract from the Tiguan’s classic appeal.

Compared to its predecessor, the new Tiguan lacks the timeless elegance and understated charm that define Volkswagen’s design philosophy. The abrupt departure from traditional design cues, coupled with questionable aesthetic choices, results in a polarizing visual identity.

Platform and Suspension:

The new Tiguan rides on VW’s MQB Evo platform, which also underpins the GTI hatchback and the Audi A3. Its suspension and platform are similar to the current GTI hatchback, potentially making it an enjoyable crossover to drive.

Safety and Driver Assistance:

Volkswagen should continue to offer the 2025 Tiguan with the IQ Drive Suite of driver assistance features. Standard features may include front automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, automatic high beams, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.

Pricing and Trim Levels:

The base price for the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan is expected to start around $29,000, depending on the trim level and options. Prices can go up to $45,000. The plug-in hybrid variant will likely sit at the top of the Tiguan range, starting at around $40,000 or more.

Performance:

An 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission should handle gear shifts for both engine options. The previous generation Tiguan had a 184 horsepower turbocharged 2.0 L inline 4 with 221 lb-ft of torque, but better performance is anticipated from the new Tiguan.

2025 Volkswagen Tiguan Release Date

The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan is gearing up to hit the roads in the USA, with an expected release date in November 2024. That means you can expect to see this sleek SUV shining on dealership lots across the country by December 2024.
