2025 Honda HR-V: Redesigned for Style, Space, and Fuel Efficiency

The top-selling subcompact crossover, the Honda HR-V, is about to get even better. If you’re in the market for a stylish, fuel-efficient ride, get ready for the 2025 Honda HR-V.

This upcoming model promises to be even more budget-friendly while catching eyes with its fresh design and improved fuel efficiency. Plus, there are exciting rumors about a hybrid engine option.

Taking inspiration from the recent revamp of the iconic Civic hatchback, the new Honda HR-V inherits its legendary driving dynamics while maximizing interior space for passengers and cargo. With enhanced features, this small crossover ensures it remains a top choice in its segment.

What’s Changing?

The 2025 Honda HR-V is getting a significant makeover, solidifying its status as the top-selling subcompact crossover. Forget the speculation about the Honda Element replacing it—the HR-V is coming back fresher and more stylish both inside and out.

It now sports a modernized and tech-enhanced design, verging on true SUV territory at 172 inches long. The new model might be larger than its predecessor, offering more space and comfort.

Safety features are getting a boost too, with standard Honda Sensing, including lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control.

Size Matters

While some drivers love its compact size for nimble handling and fuel efficiency, others crave more cargo space in the current model. If you need extra room, upgrading to a larger vehicle like the CR-V might be the answer.

Engine options are limited in the current version, but the 2025 model will introduce a new hybrid powertrain. However, the beloved Magic Seat feature from previous generations is being removed, though there’s talk of its potential return.

New Engine, Specs, and Gas Mileage

The third generation of the HR-V comes with a fresh drivetrain—a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine. This new four-cylinder engine replaces the previous 1.8-liter unit, delivering 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque.

Paired with a CVT transmission, the 2.0 engine helps the HR-V sprint from 0-60 mph in a quick 9.5 seconds, an improvement over the previous version’s 10.1 seconds. While not a monumental leap, this upgrade addresses the previous model’s sluggish acceleration.

Front-wheel drive is standard across all versions, with all-wheel drive as an optional feature—a rarity in the subcompact segment. The new 2.0-liter engine returns 26 to 32 miles per gallon, slightly less efficient than the previous 1.8-liter engine. However, the HR-V isn’t built for towing or off-road performance.

Introducing the 2025 Honda HR-V Hybrid

Expanding the powertrain options for the upcoming HR-V is crucial. Just offering front and all-wheel drive feels limiting. That’s why drivers are eagerly anticipating the 2025 Honda HR-V hybrid, already available in Europe.

While hybrids remain uncommon in the subcompact class, with many companies focusing on EVs, Honda enthusiasts have faith that the company can deliver a competitive hybrid system, like the one in the CR-V, which stands out for its excellent gas mileage.

Options and Prices

Existing options won’t change much. The base model is the LX, featuring 17-inch wheels, push-button start, a 7-inch screen, and four USB ports. The MSRP for the entry-level model will be around $24,000. The mid-range trim is the Sport, priced $2,000 above the LX.

For that price, you get 18-inch black alloy wheels, remote start, keyless entry, and heated front seats. Sportier exterior and interior accents, like a black grille, chromed exhaust tips, and tinted windows, are also included.

The EXL is the top-of-the-range package, priced at $29,000, and includes a sunroof, ambient lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather seats, and a wireless charger. All-wheel drive is optional across the lineup and costs $1,500.

Coming Soon

There are still a few months before the 2025 Honda HR-V’s debut, and Honda won’t reveal everything until the grand premiere. Stay tuned for more updates as this exciting new model prepares to hit the road.
