The Lexus ES, though it may not appear so at first glance, is one of the oldest vehicles in its class. The current generation has been in production since 2018, and a comprehensive redesign is reportedly on tap for the 2025 model year. Reports are still preliminary, but here’s what we know about the redesigned 2025 Lexus ES.
According to Automotive News, the midsize luxury sedan is set to receive a full redesign for the 2025 model year. Lexus hasn’t revealed the next generation ES styling yet, but we expect the brand’s distinctive spindle grill to still be featured prominently.
The current ES sports a rear light bar and is relatively conservative in its styling, so we might see Lexus mix things up with a bolder design for 2025.
As is the case with the exterior, we haven’t been able to source images of the 2025 ES’s interior yet. We expect the redesign to bring added tech and more luxury touches, though the current model is not short on either.
The 2024 ES cabin is spacious and well-appointed and features an asymmetrical dashboard coated in soft-touch materials. An 8-inch touchscreen is standard equipment, while a 12.3-inch screen is optional. Wireless smartphone connectivity, Bluetooth, navigation, a Wi-Fi hotspot, Amazon Alexa, and satellite radio are all standard as well. We wouldn’t be surprised if the next-gen model ushers in even more standard tech.
The 2024 ES is offered with a choice of three powertrains, and we haven’t seen any indication that the 2025 model will be getting a new engine option so far. The base engine is a 2.5L 4-cylinder developing 203 horsepower.
Those looking for more performance can upgrade to a 302-horsepower 3.5L V6, and a 215-horsepower hybrid 4-cylinder is also available. We may see a plug-in hybrid variant join the lineup as well, but that is purely speculative. We also expect front-wheel drive to continue to be standard with all-wheel drive optional.
