Pre-Owned Chevy Silverado ZR2 Has Raptor Capability

Today, I’m excited to bring you a detailed review of a pre-owned Chevy Silverado ZR2. With these trucks finally making their way onto the used market, it’s time to dive into what makes this model stand out, especially when considering depreciation.

Under the Hood

Let’s start with what’s under the hood. The Silverado ZR2 is powered by a 6.2L V8 engine, which is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. This setup produces an impressive 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. If you’re a fan of daily content like this review, make sure to subscribe—new videos are posted every day.

Overview of the ZR2

The ZR2 Silverado is Chevy’s top-of-the-line pickup, though it’s not quite a full-on Raptor competitor. However, it does share some features with high-performance off-road trucks.

The truck comes with a distinctive blacked-out center piece, a bumper designed with cutouts for rock crawling, skid plate protection, and recovery points. The aggressive look is complemented by a Chevy flow tie and factory-installed 33-inch tall tires, which enhance both ground clearance and grip.

Suspension and Stance

The ZR2 is lifted from the factory, similar to the Trail Boss, giving it an impressive stance. Unlike the Raptor and T-Rex, which some compare it to, the ZR2 still uses leaf springs in the rear.

It also features Multimatic shocks—though they’re a multi-chamber system that we’ll be testing for performance on a used truck. Overall, the Silverado ZR2 has a traditional suspension setup, and in my opinion, it’s a good-looking pickup with a rugged, off-road appearance.

Bed and Interior

The truck bed comes with factory-installed protection, which is a standard feature for this model. Moving to the interior, it’s designed for easy cleaning with a gray color scheme and neon stitching for added flair.

The seats have small perforations and a spacious cab that can accommodate a lot of gear. Up front, the seats continue this theme, although some wear is visible. The ZR2’s payload capacity is 1,438 lbs—decent, though slightly lower compared to some competitors.

Features and Pricing

Inside the cabin, you’ll find a power-adjustable steering wheel, a heads-up display, an advanced four-wheel drive system, automatic lights, and a full digital gauge cluster.

The truck is also equipped with a rearview camera mirror, a 360-camera system, front and rear locking differentials, dual-zone climate control, heated and ventilated seats, and a sunroof. The rear window features a power glass option.

Originally priced at just over $70,000 when new, this two-year-old Silverado ZR2, with around 23,000 miles, is now listed at approximately $58,000 as a certified pre-owned vehicle.

Certified pre-owned vehicles generally come with a price premium over regular used ones but offer extended warranties. For the price of a new Ford Ranger Raptor, you can get a Raptor-like truck with a powerful 6.2L V8 and full-size capability—what a deal!

Driving Impressions

Let’s hit the road and see how it drives. I’m curious to evaluate the Multimatic shocks after some mileage. If you have any suggestions for other used vehicles to review, let me know. I’m taking it day by day, browsing dealership inventories for intriguing options.

Personal Thoughts

This review series is proving to be incredibly useful as I prepare for future car purchases. Although I’m not currently in the market, I anticipate buying used vehicles moving forward due to the current market trends. My recent purchase of a pre-owned Land Cruiser reaffirms my preference for second-hand vehicles, which offer significant savings.

Final Thoughts

To wrap up, the Silverado ZR2 delivers great power and a smooth ride. The Multimatic shocks seem to be performing well, and while the interior shows some wear—particularly on the steering wheel—the truck holds up impressively overall.

Certified pre-owned vehicles can offer a great balance of warranty and value, making them an appealing option compared to new models.
