What if I told you that one of the oldest cars in its segment is about to get a major makeover? And that it might look nothing like the current model? That’s right, I’m talking about the Lexus ES, the midsize luxury sedan that has been around since 1989.
In this article, I’ll tell you everything we know so far about the redesigned 2025 Lexus ES, and why you should be excited about it.

A New Look Inside and Out
The Lexus ES is known for being reliable and popular, but it’s also one of the oldest models in its class. The current generation has been around since 2018, and it’s time for a big update. According to Automotive News, the 2025 ES will have a completely new design both inside and out.
Although Lexus hasn’t revealed the next-gen ES’s styling yet, we expect to see the distinctive spindle grille remain. The current ES has a rear lightbar and a pretty conservative design, so we might see a bolder and more aggressive look for 2025, possibly inspired by concept cars shown at recent auto shows.
Upgraded Interior Features
Details about the interior are still under wraps, but we expect more tech and luxury touches. The 2024 ES already offers a spacious and well-appointed cabin with an asymmetrical dashboard and soft-touch materials.
It includes an 8-inch touchscreen as standard, with a 12.3-inch screen as an option. Features like wireless smartphone connectivity, Bluetooth, navigation, a WiFi hotspot, Amazon Alexa, and satellite radio are all standard.
We wouldn’t be surprised if the 2025 model includes even more tech, like a digital instrument cluster, head-up display, or wireless charging pad.
Powertrain Options
The 2024 ES offers three powertrains, and there’s no indication yet that the 2025 model will add new engine options. Currently, the base engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 203 horsepower.
There’s also a 302-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 and a 215-horsepower hybrid four-cylinder. There’s speculation about a possible plug-in hybrid variant, but that’s not confirmed. We expect front-wheel drive to remain standard, with all-wheel drive as an option.
Pricing and Release Date
Lexus hasn’t announced the pricing or release date for the 2025 ES yet, but we expect it to hit dealers next year. The 2024 ES starts at $43,190 and goes up to $53,480. We anticipate a slight increase in price to reflect the redesign for 2025.
