Our Thoughts
After getting a major update in 2024, the Chevrolet Silverado HD is coming back for 2025 with a new Trail Boss model.
The Trail Boss trim is for folks who sometimes like to go off-road. It was first seen on the 2019 Silverado 1500 and later added to the Colorado lineup in 2022. Now, it’s coming to the Silverado HD series too.
For those who want even more off-road capability, Chevy still offers the ZR2 grade, which has been available on the Silverado HD since 2024.
The Trail Boss comes with extra features like the Z71 suspension package with Rancho shocks, 20-inch wheels with BFGoodrich tires, and cool styling details like red recovery hooks.
Under the hood, the Trail Boss has a 6.6-liter V-8 engine with 401 horsepower as standard. But you can also choose the optional 6.6-liter turbodiesel V-8 with 470 horsepower. Both engines come with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Chevy is also making some small changes to other Silverado HD models for 2025. For example, parking sensors will be available on some trims, and adaptive cruise control is now standard on the High Country trim.
The 2025 Silverado HD lineup will be available starting this summer, with pricing details coming closer to the launch date.
