Subaru announced Thursday that the starting price for the base model will be $31,090, a $2,900 increase from last year. Despite the hike, it still comes in a bit cheaper than its rival, the Toyota RAV4 LE with AWD.

Under the hood, you’ll find a 2.5-liter flat-4 engine with 180 horsepower, paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission.

The all-wheel-drive system promises to be more responsive, possibly due to some software tweaks. Plus, Subaru borrowed some tech from the WRX to improve handling and cabin quietness.

On the safety front, Subaru beefed up its EyeSight safety suite, which now has a wider view and smoother operation. It includes features like adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking, with blind-spot monitors available on higher trims.

Inside, the base Forester comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, cloth seats, and dual 7.0-inch touchscreens with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Say goodbye to the CD player, though – USB ports and satellite radio are the new norm.

Stepping up, the Premium trim ($33,390) adds a larger 11.6-inch touchscreen, heated seats, and more fancy tech. The Sport ($35,890) gets a sportier look with bigger wheels and paddle shifters, while the Wilderness ($36,315) is built for off-road adventures with extra ground clearance and rugged tires.

For those who want luxury, the Limited ($37,390) and Touring ($41,390) trims offer leather seats, advanced safety features, and premium sound systems.

So, if you’re in the market for a compact crossover, keep an eye out for the 2025 Subaru Forester hitting dealerships soon.
